Draconian crackdown on the public’s right to access information held by the State

Lord Falconer of Thoroton, the Lord Chancellor, is proposing a draconian crackdown on the public’s right to access information held by the State. He has claimed that the introduction of rules opening up Whitehall are clogging up government and distracting ministers.

Or is this just an excuse for dodging public accountability. I know which I think !!!

    For many years I was a civil servant, HSO in UKAEA and MOD.
    There is no way that anybody would put their name on a document if they expected it to be in tomorrow's Daily mirror.
    All that will happen is that no minutes will be taken, or at the most an "official version".
    I can well remember a Naval Captain saying "The PM must never find out about this!" The PM was Wilson, who we didn't trust.

  2. The FOI and EIR allow for the withholding of peoples personal details, incluidng name under the provisons of the Data Protection Act. In such cases documents are redacted to remove persoanl data such as names
